The bear market may not be over but some corporate insiders are acting like it is
MARK HULBERT It’s premature to declare the bear market is over, but it’s not too early to start constructing your buy list of stocks for when conditions are more favorable. That’s the conclusion I draw from an analysis of recent insider transactions from Nejat Seyhun, a finance professor at the University of Michigan and one of academia’s leading experts on the behavior of corporate insiders.

Investors expect no peace in U.S. stocks until bond gyrations subside
Investors believe the feedback loop between U.S. stocks and bonds will likely be a key factor in determining whether the gyrations that have rocked markets this year continue into the last months of 2022. With the third quarter over, both assets have seen painful sell-offs – the S&P 500 is down nearly 25% year-to-date and the ICE BofA Treasury Index has fallen by around 13%. The twin declines are the worst since 1938, according to BoFA Global Research.

Fed seen sticking with rate hikes as inflation stays hot
(Reuters) -Federal Reserve policymakers, who have driven U.S. borrowing costs up faster this year than at any time since the 1980s, got one less reason to slow down on Friday after a government report showed inflation continues to run at a red-hot pace. The personal consumption expenditures price index, the measure by which the Fed targets 2% inflation, rose 6.2% in August from a year earlier, down from 6.4% in July, the Commerce Department reported. Even before the report the Fed was widely expected to deliver a fourth straight 75-basis-point interest rate hike at its next policy meeting in November.

Column: Tua shouldn’t have played, but complex issues remain
There’s one thing we can all agree on: Tua Tagovailoa had no business being on the field. The Miami Dolphins quarterback was taken away on a stretcher with a concussion during a prime-time game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday, an especially frightening incident because it came a mere four days after another hard hit against the Buffalo Bills left him wobbly. ”I’m sick,” former NFL linebacker Emmanuel Acho said in a video posted to Twitter.
